GB 146.1-1983 GB NATIONAL STANDARD OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA UDC 625.2.011 Replacing GB 146-1959 Rolling stock gauge for standard gauge railways ISSUED ON. NOVEMBER 07, 1983 IMPLEMENTED ON. OCTOBER 01, 1984 Approved by. State Standardization Bureau Table of Contents 1 Scope of application ... 3  2 Definitions ... 3  3 Usage ... 3  4 Calculation method of maximum allowable width of rolling stock ... 4  5 Basic dimensions ... 6  Additional information... 8  Rolling stock gauge for standard gauge railways 1 Scope of application This gauge applies to newly-made and transformed railway steam, electricity, diesel locomotives, and all kinds of vehicles for 1435 mm standard gauge railways. Note. “Newly-made” refers to the rolling stock designed and manufactured after implementation of this Standard. “Transformed” refers to the rolling stock that are designed and manufactured before implementation of this Standard but are transformed according to this Standard. 2 Definitions Rolling stock gauge is a limit cross-sectional contour perpendicular to the center line of track. Regardless of empty or heavy vehicles, new vehicle with the maximum standard tolerance, or old vehicles with the maximum standard tolerance and abrasion limit, when the rolling stock parks on horizontal straight line, it shall not have lateral inclination and offset. Except the pantograph arising from electric locomotives, all other parts shall be accommodated in the limit-contour, and must not exceed the contour. 3 Usage 3.1 Rolling stock is designed based on gauge; gauge center line is the vertical line that passes through the midpoint of two rails that are in straight line. Horizontal dimension of rolling stock is counted from its centerline and expressed through its gauge’s half-width. Vertical dimension is counted from rail surface. 3.2 For rolling stock’s design and manufacturing, both of the basic dimensions or tolerance dimensions shall not exceed the limit cross-section contour line as prescribed by the gauge. 3.3 Rolling stock gauge-1A and rolling stock gauge-1B refer to the basic contour of rolling stock gauge. The part that is 350 mm above rail surface is the upper gauge (rolling stock gauge-1A). The part that is less than 350 mm above rail surface is the lower gauge (rolling stock gauge-1B). 3.4 For the upper part of newly-made vehicles (vehicles that have not been operated since production), the maximum dimension in the vertical plane, in unloaded state, may be designed and manufactured according to the maximum dimension of rolling stock gauge- 1 A. 3.5 After spring subsidence and maximum abrasion in static-loaded state (or preparedness state) has been taken into account, the design and manufacturing vertical dimension of the lower part of newly-made vehicle must not be less than the vertical dimension prescribed in rolling stock gauge-1B. 3.6 For the truck that passes through automation and mechanized hump locomotive reducer, after spring subsidence and maximum abrasion in static loaded state has been taken into account, the design and manufacturing vertical dimensions of its lower part must not be less than the vertical dimensions prescribed for rolling stock gauge-2 of truck lower gauge when vehicle reducer is at a braking or working position. 3.7 For shunting locomotive that passes through automation and mechanized hump locomotive reducer, after spring subsidence and maximum abrasion in preparedness state has been taken into account, the design and manufacturing vertical dimensions of its lower part must not be less than the vertical dimensions prescribed for rolling stock gauge-3 of shunting locomotive lower gauge when vehicle reducer is at a remission position. 3.8 For above clause 3.5 to clause 3.7, during determination on design and manufacturing vertical dimensions of the lower part of newly-made vehicles, its spring vibration subsidence (dynamic deflection) under dynamic load is not necessarily included. 4 Calculation method of maximum allowable width of rolling stock 4.1 During determination of maximum allowable manufacturing width of rolling stock, it shall not consider the lateral offset (limit value) when the travelling part of rolling stock with maximum abrasion enters inti curve. For the rolling stock that participates in international transport, or its limit value is required to be taken into account upon special requirements, then it shall be specified in design specification. 4.2 Length of vehicle body is 13.22 m (26 m); bogie center distance is 9.35 m (18 m); maximum allowable manufacturing width is 3400 mm. Vehicles with such dimensions are defined as calculation vehicles (used for the calculation of vehicle width). When calculation vehicle is on a calculation-curve of which the curve radius is 300 m, its maximum deviation offset at the middle and end is 36 mm (135 mm for the middle; 147 mm for the end). Note. The values listed outside the parentheses apply to the calculation of rolling stock for all-road operation. The values listed inside the parentheses apply to the calculation of rolling stock that operates on lines the comply with this construction gauge (the lines of which the curve-line is widened based on this construction gauge). 4.3 For rolling stock design, when the length of vehicle body or bogie center distance does ......
